2024 Sam Fox School Recognition Ceremony
The Sam Fox School celebrates the tremendous accomplishments of its graduating students at its all-school Recognition Ceremony. The in-person ceremony recognizes the degree candidates across the Sam Fox School’s undergraduate and graduate programs.

Policy Changes for 2024 Commencement and School Ceremonies
WashU has implemented several policy changes for the safety and convenience of our community during the university ceremony as well as the school recognition ceremonies.
The Sam Fox School Recognition Ceremony and Monday’s university-wide Commencement ceremony will require tickets to enter.
The tickets for the all-university Commencement ceremony have been sent directly to the graduates. Sam Fox School graduating students should check their email for information about reserving tickets to the Sam Fox School Recognition Ceremony. The graduates are responsible for distributing the tickets among their respective guests.
Graduates may not bring any bags of any type onto Francis Olympic Field, or into the school ceremonies.
Guests are strongly encouraged not to bring bags. Only the following types of bags will be allowed:
Clear plastic bags, not to exceed 14” x 14” x 4”. Clear bags will be available and free of charge in parking locations and at the ceremony entrances, for those who need them.
Small clutch-type wallets or purses not to exceed 4”x6”. Diaper bags are allowed for those with small children, but will be inspected. Medically necessary equipment is permitted after inspection.
The following items are prohibited in all university and school ceremonies and events, and are subject to confiscation:
- Air horns and other artificial noisemakers
- Animals, except assistance animals
- Banners or signs larger than 2’x3’ (no poles of any kind will be allowed)
- Food and drink (except water).
- Firearms and weapons
- Laser lights
- Balloons, glitter and confetti
- Unmanned aircraft/drones
Information for Candidates
Regalia is required to participate in all Commencement ceremonies. Please have your regalia reserved online by April 21, 2024.
The Sam Fox School’s Recognition Ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Varsity Gym In the WashU Athletic Complex.
Candidates should arrive at the Athletic Complex at 2:15 p.m. for check-in and line-up.

Yes. Those who are unable to attend in person can watch the Recognition Ceremony livestream on this page and on the school’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
WashU will livestream the May 13 University Commencement on their Facebook page.
Priority seating will be available for those who need it. Please contact the Registrar’s office with concerns regarding accessibility.
Regalia is required to participate in the Recognition Ceremony and University Commencement.
Boxed water will be provided to candidates only. Guests are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles. Water stations will be provided to fill reusable water bottles.
The Recognition Ceremony will take place at the Varsity Gym in the WashU Athletic Complex on the west side of the Danforth Campus. For parking options, please visit the university’s Commencement website.
