One-on-one advising helps students crystallize their interests and develop the tools to target internships, jobs, residencies, fellowships, graduate schools, and other professional opportunities. We encourage students to schedule a 1:1 appointment early in the semester. Schedule a 1:1 appointment for online scheduling, or email careers@wustl.edu.
Quick Advising
These 15-minute check-ins are ideal for a quick review of a resume, edits to a cover letter, portfolio review, or troubleshooting a follow-up strategy with a prospect. Students must have had at least one 1:1 advising appointment to take advantage of these sessions. Sign-up emails are sent out regularly by the office.
The Design Internship Network is a program that seeks to utilize a network of professional partners to offer a broad range of internship opportunities to students in the College of Architecture & Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design. It is our belief that internship experiences are invaluable to our students’ success and competitiveness as they seek career options in a challenging and dynamic professional context.
Interested firms or individuals will be matched to current students seeking real-world internship and job-shadowing experiences. More information, including enrollment details, can be found through the link.
In addition to the annual University-wide Internship & Job Career Fairs, the Sam Fox School hosts an internship and job fair specifically geared toward the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and design. At this annual event, students and recent alumni have the opportunity to meet with top firms and professional and trade organizations, network with employers and faculty, and have their portfolios reviewed by professionals in the field. In recent years, representatives from Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, Arcturis, ARO, CannonDesign, Elkus Manfredi Architects, EwingCole, Fentress, Forum Studio, HKS, HOK, KieranTimberlake, Perkins+Will, Populous, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM), Perkins Eastman, and Trivers Associates have attended the fair.
Road Shows are an opportunity for students to meet with organizations and alumni across the United States. At these events, you’ll meet practicing architects, learn about their work, and ask questions about the world of architecture beyond academia.
