Outdoor Screening: Art21 “Realms of the Real”
On the lawn outside the Kemper Art Museum’s main entrance, enjoy an outdoor screening of an episode from Art in the Twenty-First Century, a Peabody Award–winning biennial program and the first series on television in the US to focus exclusively on contemporary visual art and artists.
“Realms of the Real,” an episode from the show’s twelfth season, features Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Ragnar Kjartansson, Candice Lin, and Tomás Saraceno. Watch as the internationally acclaimed artists conduct extensive historical research, examine the nuances of culture and identity, and explore the boundaries of art and science to create worlds of fantasy and fiction that expand our understanding of ourselves and our world.
Tomás Saraceno’s site-specific installation Cosmic Filaments (2019) is part of the Museum’s permanent collection and can be viewed during the screening.
Free and open to the public; registration is required. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets for comfortable seating.
This event is presented in collaboration with Art21. For more information visit art21.org.
