Coral Courts Lecture: Toni L. Griffin
Toni L. Griffin, Professor in Practice of Urban Planning at Harvard University Graduate School of Design and founder of Urban Planning and Design for the American City, will deliver the annual Coral Courts Lecture. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Griffin’s practice looks at spatial and racial justice within urban environments. Her Just City Index is a roster of values cities can use to develop visions for becoming the most just spaces for their residents. She has intimate knowledge of St. Louis thanks to her winning—and paradigm busting—entry in the Choteau Greenway Competition, which focused on the city’s existing segregation lines, rather than the competition’s stated goal of focusing on the east-west connection. She is a provocative thinker and doer on the role of design and planning in creating more just social conditions.
