Scott Emmelkamp
Scott Emmelkamp is a highly accomplished landscape architect and urban planner with over 30 years of experience in the field. As a principal at Planning Design Studio, a landscape architecture firm in St. Louis, he has worked on a diverse range of projects. His career work spans large-scale urban design projects in China, military base planning across three continents, and the design of theme park animal exhibits. Currently, he focuses on parks and recreation, as well as greenway development in the eastern Missouri and southern Illinois regions.
Throughout his career, Emmelkamp has earned numerous awards for his projects and has been active in his professional community. He has served twice as President and Trustee of the St. Louis Chapter ASLA, as well as serving on various national committees. He was recently recognized by ASLA for his exceptional leadership and contributions to the landscape architecture profession by being elevated to Fellow of the society. He is also the president of the Open Space STL, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conservation and has held leadership positions on professional advisory committees at the Sam Fox School and the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design.
Emmelkamp earned his bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Arkansas’s Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design in 1987, where he graduated as valedictorian. He holds licenses to practice in Arkansas, Illinois, and Missouri, and is also a LEED Accredited Professional.
