Jessica Hawthorn

Jessica Hawthorn is a multidisciplinary designer and illustrator from St. Louis, Mo. She had a 14-year layover in Chicago where she worked as an animator with a production company, an in-house designer for a manufacturer, and a senior art director at an ad agency working on the Blue Bunny and Ortega accounts. She is excited to focus her full attention on illustration as a candidate in the Illustration and Visual Culture program. Her current work explores both light and dark themes with an appreciation for the ‘in-between’ spaces. Jess is inspired by magical realism, stories with morally gray characters, good food, the people and animals that cross her path, and the things she sees while walking outdoors.

Jess is a Sam Fox Ambassador.
