Allen presents at Architecture and Ethics of Care symposium

Senior Lecturer Matthew Allen organized and chaired a special session of the June 2026 Architecture and Ethics of Care symposium held at Tongji University in Shanghai. The international symposium brought together scholars and architects from 13 countries to explore how architecture and the built environment can actively serve and nurture communities.

The special session, titled “Aftercare: Cultivating Architectural Narratives from the Institute Archives,” was aimed at bringing scholars into corporate archives of significant design institutes and groups that produce most of the architecture in China.

Allen also participated in a panel discussion with celebrated architects Liu Jiakun and Li Xinggang, among others.
