Work by alumna Catie Cook, MFA ’25, is featured on the cover of New American Paintings. The MFA issue features top MFA candidates and recent graduates, this year 35 of whom were selected by juror Claire Howard, the Hansjörg Wyss Curator of Modern Art at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Cook’s work investigates gender performance through theatrical staging and symbolism, particularly of show dogs. “As my dogs snarl, pose, and leap across staged scenes,” Cook shared, “I weave uncanny fictions wrought with themes of control, beauty, and artifice.”
