Mumford to speak in Barcelona, Cincinnati

Professor Eric Mumford will give an invited lecture on Josep Lluís Sert at the Center for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona this October, part of the city’s Architecture World Capital program. The talk offers a critical and panoramic analysis of Sert’s evolution, contextualizing both Sert’s writings and his built works within the global landscape of 20th-century architecture.

Mumford will also co-chair a session on the pedestrian residential sector in modern urbanism at the Society for American City and Regional Planning History conference in Cincinnati. Michael Willis, FAIA, who co-curated the exhibition “Design Agendas: Modern Architecture in St. Louis, 1930s-1970s” at the Kemper Art Museum with Mumford, will join, along with Michael Allen of the National Building Arts Center and Liang Wang of the University of Texas at Austin.
