Livia Xandersmith
Livia Xandersmith is a surrealist painter living and working in St. Louis. She creates oil paintings and painted installations that complicate space and obscure the lines between the real and the imagined, the past and the present, and seeks to explore the power of images and memory within our contemporary and digital age.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in studio art and art history from the University of Southern Indiana. After graduating, she was awarded the Efroymson Fellowship, a $10,000, post-graduate award. Xandersmith earned her Master of Fine Art in visual Art from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Art at Washington University in St. Louis. At WashU, she received a Thesis Production Grant for her work, “A Comedy of Agency.”
