Collection Statement
“I’m not completely found — but I’m not as lost as I used to be” is both a luxury ready-to-wear collection and story that follows my personal RECLAMATION of a lived, but unrealized Queer history. The collection takes inspiration from visual narratives codified within the gay community, reworking these from my own personal lens. Aesthetically, the garments are inspired by Drag and queer subculture, with materiality playing an integral part in communication. These materials include silk taffeta and charmeuse, silk wool suiting, modal knit, crystal beading, and ostrich feather trim - all of which deliver a uniquely personal tactile experience. The silhouettes in the collection are severe and extravagant, conceptually linking to a desire to both physically and metaphorically CLAIM space as a queer individual. In this vein, the clothes are marketed with a holistically INCLUSIVE commitment, being genderless, ageless, and body positive. While this collection is part of my own personal exploration and HEALING, I also hope to speak to a wide variety through excess, escapism, and camp. Overall, the collection is about not only telling MY STORY, but telling the stories of those who came before me - who were robbed of their voice.
