House in Arteaga, a project by Mónica Rivera and Emiliano López
House in Arteaga, a project by Mónica Rivera, chair of graduate architecture programs and the JoAnn Stolaroff Cotsen Professor of Architecture, and Emiliano López, senior lecturer, has been selected as one of 16 featured works in Internalities, the exhibition at the Spanish Pavilion during the 19th International Architecture Biennale opening in Venice in May 2025.
The exhibition’s theme, Architectures for Territorial Equilibrium, showcases projects that embody a balance with their territory and use local, regenerative, and low-carbon materials. House in Arteaga uses locally sourced and locally manufactured cross-laminated timber on stone foundations sourced from a nearby quarry and uses no concrete.
Rivera and López’s forthcoming publication about the project is expected later this year. The Internalities exhibition is curated by Roi Salgueiro of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Manuel Bouzas of Cornell University.
