Fox Fridays: Loom, Miniature woven tapestry
Make a miniature woven tapestry! Through this process, students will learn how to warp a hand loom, create a design, and weave their creation. They will learn how to finish the piece and will take home instructions in case they want to continue outside of class.
Takeaways: Students will produce a small tapestry (4x6’’). They will learn how to warp a loom, create a design based on a drawing, collage, or photograph, and weave their creation. Students will learn how to finish the piece and will take home instructions in case they do not finish in class.
Cross-disciplinary Connections: Weaving a tapestry involves translating an image to a simpler medium. The original image can be a drawing, collage, or photograph. The student can create the pattern in Photoshop and trace it on the loom.
