Jack Risley is primarily a sculptor. His use of found and appropriated objects - often ones encountered in daily life - challenges the viewer to redefine both the objects’ usage and the space in which we and they exist. The son of artist parents who made most of the objects in their home, Risley’s development has been a natural extension of his environment.
John Zinsser has been a staple of the Philip Slein Gallery for over a decade. His brash yet soothing application of thick paint on self-imposed grids confront the viewer with a chance to immerse one’s self within the painting. Even the smallest of his works invite viewers inside - both romantically and spiritually.
