Fox Fridays: Centrifugal Casting Pt. 2
This is a two-day workshop conducted by 2022-23 Louis D. Beaumont Artist-in-Residence Anika Todd. Part 1 can be found here
In this workshop we will learn a lost-wax casting process that can be used to create small sculptures and jewelry designs. We will begin with wax and learn a mold making process to transform this material into a bronze casting.
In the second section of the course will pour bronze into our molds. In this section students will help run the centrifuge casting process, a tool for spinning hot metal into the molds. After the works are cast, the final step will be learning to cut and polish the bronze to create a finished work.
