Jia Song wins ASLA Merit Award

Jia Song, MLA ’25 candidate, won a Merit Award in the student work category from the St. Louis Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. She designed her project, “Alpaca Bridge,” as part of Assistant Professor Seth Denizen’s Shared Ecologies course. The course asked students to design a connection between the south side of the Saint Louis Zoo across I-64 to the former Forest Park Hospital site it purchased in 2012. Song’s project included an alpaca habitat with a protected pathway and exhibit space for visitors to observe the animals, as well as engaging with the interstate through unique, circular design elements.
